I have failed, you have failed, we have failed

Failure is often a difficult word to share and discuss in many circles. Failure as an attribute is not welcomed by many people and institutions. The English dictionary WordNet explains failure in six different ways; as an act that fails; an event that does not accomplish its intended purpose; lack of success; a person with a record of failing i.e. someone who loses consistently; loss of ability to function normally; an unexpected omission.
As we go through life in our various spheres we experience failure in different ways.
The media has failed us a number of ways and times. The positive and good things happening in our society have time and again been given a blackout or less airtime through mentions, broadcasting and print. Where we believe the media should act as an agent of hope they have done the opposite. Bias and selective reporting and less important issues that do not touch the real and heavy issues that affect as a society, the media has given a blind eye to it.
It is commonly believed that our political leadership has time and again failed us as a nation since time in memorial. The contention has always been that those elected instead of sacrificially serving the people as they ought to they turn to be so greedy and selfish hence neglect the very people they represent at various political offices. Cases of all form of injustices ranging from social to economical experienced in our society are so high.
Religious leaders on the other hand have failed to instill moral values to the society. They have failed to give spiritual guidance. They have failed to feed the sheep as per the scriptures and to inspire morality among men and women. They have turned worship places to be centers of business, turning worship centers into prisons of poor who are thirsty of the word. They too have failed as a people.
Everything starts from the family and that is why there is nothing that can compensate for the failure in the family. Nevertheless, families have failed to teach moral values to the young ones, fathers have failed to shoulder their responsibilities as heads and providers for the families. They have failed to nurture future fathers who will stand in for the Lord in the perilous times. Being patriarchs by birth, they have failed to magnify their calling by bestowing their paternal blessings to their families. Mothers have failed to stand up as makers of families and every time a father fails, a mother has failed too. Things are to be used and people are to be loved, but the problem in today’s world is that people are used and things are loved which is evident in families and society today.
I have failed as a person not once or twice but many times. I am partly and greatly to be blamed for the above failures in the different institutions. I have been passive when bad political leadership gets into offices, I have condoned misleading truths and lies of some of the religious leaders, I have failed to speak boldly regarding the negative issues bedeviling our society among many others. I accept responsibility for my failures and understand that the change we desire for our society needs to come from within us.
